PROJECT: MULTIFUNCTIONAL CENTRE IN SHIJAK

Under UNDP Albania’s request in cooperation with the Municipality of Shijak, we have designed the Implementation-Project and cost estimation of the Community Center for children with disabilities in Shijak.
Premises of the centre are proposed to be adjusted in an existing building. From the assessment made into this building, it is noticed that the building is amortized and damaged constructively. For this reason it is proposed the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new one floor height building. The new building will maintain the footprint and measurement of the existing building. The surface of the building is 166 m². The facilities of the centre are as follows:
- The main centre areas are: training / activities / library room, etc. (Surf. 15 m2), physiotherapy area(Sip. 25 m2), cafeteria and kitchen (Sip. 15 m2), office administration (Surf. 7.5 m2) a toilet for people with disabilities (Surf. 3.5 m2), 2 toilets (Sip. 8 m2), 2 classrooms (Surf. 14 m2 / each), a laboratory (Surf. 15 m2), two rooms for therapy (Surf. 6 m2), a toilet for people with disabilities (Surf . 3.5 m2), 2 toilets (Surf. 8 m2).
A special work is done on the accessibility of the building for people with disabilities. Elevation of entry is solved with a sloping ramp 6%. Communicating of the first floor with the second floor will be through stairs, but also with platforms/elevator at the case of persons moving on a wheelchair. All corners of the walls will be rounded, while the corridors will be a tough tape on the tiles, for orientation of visually impaired people. Along the corridors will be supported from hand rails. All the rooms are equipped with light signal (pulsing light). Likewise is designed an accessible toilets for disabled. All the rooms of classes, cafeteria, multifunctional hall, etc., are furnished to access people in wheelchairs. In the courtyard, is proposed a new sidewalk. Along this pavement will be constructed a ditch that will remove rainwater from the building. Control manholes are also provided for the removal of the toilet discharges and the connection with infrastructure points. It has also been worked in conjunction with the signaling of emergency and fire protection.
